WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EXERCISE AND YOGA?

The physical practice of yoga may seem like just another form of exercise or even resemble gymnastic feats of the body. Superficially there are physical effects of the practice leading to greater strength and flexibility. There are also balancing effects to the physiology of the endocrine, nervous and circulatory systems. What distinguishes yoga from other forms of exercise lies in what cannot be seen. Attention to the breath, cultivation of self-awareness and mindfulness. Yoga is a study of the functioning of the body and the mind attaining greater self-understanding. Yoga is beyond language and all about experience. A methodical, slow and consistent practice is a powerful tool for physical, emotional and spiritual transformation.
